South Routt School District’s three-year vision is to expand high-quality Career and Technical Education by developing Construction Trades as a new pathway for students in grades 6–12. Building on its successful Agriculture and Natural Resources program, the district will create a hands-on, teacher-driven Lumber Lab that equips students with professional tools, safety training, and industry-recognized credentials. Each year deepens learning from instructor training and foundational skill building to work-based learning, internships, and student-led enterprise projects. This pathway aligns learning with student interests, increases engagement and attendance, and prepares students for skilled trades careers and local workforce needs. Ultimately, the initiative establishes a sustainable CTE model with long-term impact for rural students and the broader community.
